Mac and Cheetos Jalapeño Poppers
In 2016 Burger King introduced Mac ‘n Cheese Bites. The gooey sticks, that resemble Cheetos Puffs, are Macaroni and Cheese covered with a Cheetos dust. They are similar to the fried mac-and-cheese balls you find on the menus of many family casual restaurants.
We found a recipe, made them and enjoyed them quite a bit. We included that recipe for Burger King’s Mac ‘n’ Cheetos on our Super Site, Secret Copycat Restaurant Recipes for our readers a while back (Click HERE Now to make Burger King’s Mac ‘n’ Cheetos at home)
But the idea of combining crunchy Cheetos with ooey, gooey mac ‘n cheese would not leave my mind. It is a killer mashup – And I knew how I could make it even better.
Yep – Mac ‘n Cheetos Jalapeño Poppers!

IMPORTANT – About Our Recipes
Ingredients
The first thing you will notice immediately is that our recipe does not have quantities listed for some of the ingredients. This is by design.
Jalapeños come in many different sizes and shapes (often depending upon the time of year). Their size, the cut you choose (see below) and your own personal tastes will determine how much cream cheese, bacon or other ingredients you put into each pepper. Use your tastes and be sure to experiment a bit.

Mac 'n Cheetos Jalapeño Poppers Recipe
Ingredients (See Box Above, "IMPORTANT - About Our Recipes" for Information about Quantities)
- Jalapeño Peppers
- Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
- 2 cups cold, leftover Mac & Cheese, store bought or homemade (See below for links to some good recipes to make at home)
- 2 cups Flaming Hot Cheetos
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1 cup Flour
- High Heat Oil for frying
- Ranch Dressing, homemade or store-bought for dipping
Instructions
- Cut the jalapeños into a boat or canoe cut. (Click the links above to see how to do a Boat or Canoe Cut.)
- Sprinkle insides of cut jalapeños lightly with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Place the jalapeños on a cookie sheet. Place sheet in preheated oven. Cook for about 10 minutes. (Skip this step if you prefer your finished jalapeños to be more raw and crunchy.)
- Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly so you can handle them.
- Place a very generous amount of the cold mac 'n cheese into each jalapeño. Mound it up over the top of the jalapeño about as much as the removed portion of the jalapeño, to make a nice round popper.
- Place jalapeños on a baking sheet. Place sheet in freezer and freeze for 1 hour. Do not leave in longer as excessive freezing will cause the jalapeños to become soft when thawed.
- Place Cheetos into a food processor. Process until it's a fine crumb. (If doing this far in advance, be sure place in a sealed container so the crumbs do not get stale.)
- Preheat oil in a large cooking pot on the stove top to 350ºF.
- Whisk together egg and milk in a small bowl.
- Place Cheetos Crumbs in a second bowl.
- Place flour in a third bowl.
- Remove jalapeños from the freezer and work quickly while they are still cold.
- Dip poppers into flour mixture, then egg mixture, and finally in the Cheetos mixture.
- Fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until the outside is just starting to turn golden brown. Let drain on a paper towel lined plate.
- Serve warm with ranch dressing.
